On the 23rd February 2011 the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport gave the Organization for Aid to Refugees an educational institution accreditation, including the accreditation of the educational programme Migration and Us.
Now we can therefore offer teachers of grammar schools and of the 6th to 9th years of primary schools an educational programme which they can follow in the framework of further education of teachers. The aim of the course is to gain knowledge pertaining to immigration to the Czech Republic and matters related to it, especially xenophobia and racism, respect, and observance and protection of human rights. Another aim of the course is to develop the teachers’ abilities to include the issue of immigration to the Czech Republic in the specific educational programmes of the individual schools. Furthermore, participants will gain and develop knowledge of interactive teaching methods, and abilities to incorporate these methods in their lessons. Those interested in the programme can apply for a course which will take place on the Organization for Aid to Refugees Prague premises, or it is possible to arrange the course to take place in a given school for its teaching staff.

Intended for: Teachers of grammar schools and the 6th to 9th years of primary schools
Duration: 12 hours (two 6-hour sessions)

Collaboration with Philosophical faculty of Charles University in Prague, Institution of the translatology
In June 2010 OPU started a collaboration with Institution of the Translatology of the Phylosophical faculty of Charles University in Prague. Under the management of PhDr. Ivana Cenkova, CSc. The students of the translatology will pursue a mandatory professional practice in OPU. The trainees are in scope of volunteering mostly visiting asylum centers, during the providing legal and social consultation in the office of OPU, or they help with negotiations in the offices. OPU would like to thank all the students- trainees and prof. Cenkova for help and taking over the project.
