CERD – Concluding observations on the Czech Republic

Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination issued their Concluding observations on the Czech Republic on 29.8.2019. In the field of migration, the Committee critisizes above all hate speech against refugees including hate speech by members of parliament and government; cases of threatening journalists; detention of families with children including families awaiting Dublin transfer : the Committee urges the Czech Republic to adopt more suitable alternatives to detention; discrimination in accessing health care related to the impossiblity to access public health insurance. The Committee also critisizes the absence of a procedure for stateless persons, as well as their difficulties to obtain identification documents  – as is long term critisized also by the Organization for Aid to Refugees.
