Dear OPU Supporters,
I would like to sincerely thank you, on behalf of our Organisation and our clients closed in the Czech detention centers, for helping us to survive the difficult time of more than year in which the state has not funded any legal aid in detention centers in Bělá Jezová, Vyšní Lhoty and Drahonice detention centers. We decided to terminate the fundraising campaign as of 30 September 2016 because as of the 1st October 2016, a new project – an EU AMIF grant on legal aid in return procedures – will cover the assistance to people in detention centers and on the territory as well.
In frame of the public fundraising collection (veřejná sbírka), you donated incredible 301724,59 CZK. The money helped us to visit on regular basis the three detention centers (Bělá, Vyšní Lhoty and Drahonice). Your money paid mainly the costs of translation, travel costs, postal costs and small but very numerous one-off contracts for 14 employees travelling to detention centers in a more than one year long period. In the group of legal counsellors, we also included students of the Law Faculty who had a unique opportunity to meet and help refugees in the Czech Republic. Detailed breakdown of all expenditures will be delivered to the City of Prague, as the law requires. Let me thank you once again for your great support to our clients. We appreciate it a lot.
Martin Rozumek, OPU director
